Sunflowers can be started indoors, in cold climates 5 - 7 weeks before last frost or direct sow into the soil after last frost. These sun worshipers require full sun. When planting this annual, start by preparing a planting area, free of weeds and that is well protected. This plant does not require a specific type of soil, but prefers well draining soil and mulch at the base. Plant at about 1/4” deep with a 1” - 6” spacing between seeds.
